The most awesome super last minute race has some really rad, local sponsors for this Saturday’s event! Go check them out, they all are friendly places with beautiful people and will make all your dreams come true! Well, maybe not the last part, but you should visit them and tell them you heard it from Cycle Jerks so we can continue getting free stuff to give away.
First on the list is always a local at your favorite watering hole, Pabst Blue Ribbon! Thanks to them you will be drinking for free at Track Shack (1338 Tremont) after the race!

OW! You may get to work along side this dream boat if you win!

Speakeasy on Broadway, our friends on four wheels and sometimes two, are hooking it up. This is really something seeing as how Bryan (co-owner) just had his Swobo track bike striped down to the frame. Go in there and give the man some sympathy by buying a ton of shit.

My favorite spot for a beer and pizza (or a tempting cupcake and coffee) on Cap Hill is City O’ City run by Watercourse Foods. Always packed with hipster hotties with great art on the walls (currently Scot Lefavor’s), City O’ makes for a great place to kick back with some pals after work. One lucky racer will be the proud winner of a $20 gift certificate for food or booze at City O’.

WIN THIS RACE!
I’m leaving the messenger world two weeks from Monday. We are holding a race for my position at Denver/ Boulder Couriers THIS Saturday, October 11th at noon, meet at Union Station. (D/B Couriers is in no way related to the organization of this race. Winner will get a recommendation for a job. Job placement not guaranteed.)
The race will emulate a two hour period in the day of a courier at the most grueling courier company in Colorado. Think you can hang? Then prove it.
Stakes is HIGH! Entry is FREE!
Sponsored by Track Shack! (More to come.)
EDIT: Race date has changed! See above post or following flier for details!

Here are the locations of the race this Saturday, they must be done in order.
1. Start, 3 Kings Tavern, 60 S. Broadway
2. 20th street bridge over I-25
3. Millennium Bridge, between Wewatta and Little Raven (or Basset) on 16th St
4. 8th Ave Viaduct, on 8th Ave between Galapago and Vallejo
5. Platte River train bridge, Fourth and Umatilla if the streets went into the river. We strongly suggest you scope this spot out, it’s tricky and you will get lost. It’s a train bridge. Trains go on it. It goes over the Platte River.
6. Finish, 3 Kings Tavern, 60 S. Broadway
Each racer will receive a ticket for one Pabst Blue Ribbon thanks to 3 Kings Tavern pitying us for not being able to find any beer sponsors (fucking economy). They’re also going to be donating two $10 bar tabs for us to pass out as prizes, what a great fucking bar!
All racers also will be able to eat a slice of delicious Anthony’s pizza (Thank you and happy birthday, Kelly!) and drink a refreshing Powerade (Thank you Ryan!) after the race.
We will be selling the Monster Track Eight dvd at the event for $20. Who knows? We may just give one away!
As for other prizes… Winner takes all the cash! We also have other left over prizes from Gang Bang and ClusterFuck to get rid of, prizes for top 3 overall, top female and whatever side events we come up with. We also may do a raffle.
If anyone wants to work a checkpoint email me at jen[at]milehighmessDOTcom or call me if we’re bros.
You’ve seen it. But here are some more details!
Monster Track Eight is a video about an annual messenger style alleycat race in NYC in the middle of winter. The video is intense, filmed by different cyclists with helmet cams, including the famous Lucas Brunelle. It is an all track bike, no brakes race.
Our race is not. You can ride any type of bicycle you want.
We will be posting the checkpoints for Saturdays race here on Thursday. Do your homework: Check your route!
The Punk Rock Flea Market will also be happening from 12-6 on Saturday at 3 Kings. We will have a table with Track Shack selling shirts and bike crap so bring your wallet.
Order of Activities:
12pm: Punk Rock Flea Market opens
1pm: Race Registration begins
2pm: Race starts
3pm: About the time the race will end
3:30pm: Monster Track Eight intro
4pm: Trackstands, skids, what do you want to do? Side events
5pm: Awards
5:45pm: Cycle Jerks presents Monster Track Seven premier
6pm: Main feature, Monster Track Eight. PRFM closes
8:30pm: Ride to Civic Center Park to meet with the Bike Prom cruise
It’s an all ages race, but unfortunately 21+ to get into 3 Kings. Sorry kiddies!
If you come out to SKATEBIKE tomorrow you’ll see us passing out these brand spankin’ new fliers designed by Broox Pulford of the design collective blog X Rocks The Spot. Come by our tent and pick one up, watch some videos, buy a shirt or a hat and get a sticker to put on your bike- free if you let us pick the spot.
“I used to skate.” Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all did, asshole.
FM Magazine, Track Attack and Emage Skate Shop have put their heads together to bring us SkateBike, a fixed gear/skate board mash-up. Show up this Saturday, July 26th at 2pm to race, 3pm to party at 16th and Platte. The race is $5 ($7 for both), but Trackstand Twister and PBR Pickup are free. It’s also free to watch and there will be a lot of booze and foodz.
Details of the race? Racers will be given a manifest that must be signed at each of the following checkpoints. These points can be completed in any order.
Start: 1620 Platte St. (Emage Skate Shop)
Checkpoints:
-32nd and Speer (on the corner)
-23rd and Federal (on the corner)
-70 Broadway #150 (inside Speakeasy Clothing)
Finish: 1620 Platte St. (Emage Skate Shop)
Prizes for top 3 riders, hugs for everyone else.
P.S. I Google mapped it, it’s about 10 miles. Do your homework.
There will be a few tents up, too. Denver’s newest bicycle shop The Track Shack (website coming soon) will have one, selling a sick Pinarello track frame, the famed Sam Turner’s t-shirts, leather lock belts and double toe straps, and will provide on the spot wheel truing. Justin and I will also have one with a tv playing Cycle Jerks videos, Cycle Jerks hats and shirts for sale, and some free shit.

You may remember him from a post a while back about the movie Monster Track Eight we’re going to premier.
Here’s a teaser:
Monster Track DVD trailer. from Michael Green on Vimeo.
So here are some more details about the Monster Track Eight premier…
I picture the day going a little like this: do a little bicycle race, eat some pizza, watch a part of the video, hold some side events, drink some beer, watch the rest of the movie, drink some more beer, slur a little, then manage to make our way home. Save the date: Saturday, August 9th at around 1pm. Meet at the great 3 Kings Tavern (60 S. Broadway) where the Punk Rock Flea Market will be held simultaneously. We’re doing this old school- no sponsors, just cash money in your hand. Race will be five bucks, winner takes all. We will try to get some free beer or food if we can though, because that’s always nice.
We’ll come up with a name for this event sooner or later.
