FM MAG!

13 more days!

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

That’s less than two weeks until Track Shack’s grand opening race! It’s going to be a track style miss and out. Come by Saturday and check out the shop, have a few beers and race. Track Shack will be open normal weekend business hours, 11am -5pm and the race will be at 6:30pm (FYI, the shop will be open between 5pm and 6:30pm). First 100 people to come by the shop get a limited edition grand opening Track Shack spoke card!

Track Shack now has a phone number, 303-629-9267! Call and leave Curt a voicemail about how sexy you think that beard is.

Hours of Operation (after Sat, Sept 27th)
Monday thru Friday: 8am - 5:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 11am - 5pm

I made a really crappy map to show everyone where exactly the shop is. Notice that there are both 13th and 14th AVENUES and STREETS, Track Shack is between 13th and 14th STREETS.

A little while back I held an interview with the founders of Track Shack, Curt Wallach, Sam Turner, and Justin Godfrey, read it here.

This weekend’s events

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

There’s so much going on this weekend it’s insane.

TOOFY
Lets start out with the independent Toofy Film Fest in Boulder this weekend. You can find the schedule for Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th here. Tickets are $30 for all 6 shows and the party or just $6.50 for one (that’s cheaper than any movie theater!). Since Toofy is “More of a party than a film festival” you should check out their after party fashion show on Saturday night, $5. All movies are being shown at the Boulder Theater at 2032 14th St.

New Belgium’s Tour De Fat
Denver is the second stop on the Tour De Fat this Saturday. Come by City Park at 10am dressed your funkiest for a cruise to Denver’s different parks and back (general route here).
Have a car you don’t want anymore? They will be trading someone their car for a new bike! How rad? If you’re not willing or able to give up a car bring in old bike parts you don’t need in exchange for New Belgium beer!!! They will be using the parts to build new bikes on site and donated to Derailer Bicycle Collective (411 Lipan). There is a show that’s pretty funky, too.

If you’re down to log some heart smart hours, Derailer’s Help Day is the following afternoon, Sunday, September 14th 1:00-4:00pm at 411 Lipan. Come help as they sort all the new, glorious donations!

Tim De Frisco Photo shoot
For all you messengers in Denver, Tim De Frisco is holding a second photo shoot (see the first here and scroll down) this Saturday at his studio at 2239 Champa between 11am and 5pm. Bring your bikes! None of the photos will be used for a profit. He will be providing beer, food and any prints you want!

Messenger Photoshoot Flier

Monolith Festival
This Sat and Sun as well, the Monolith Festival will be taking over Red Rocks. Great music. Need I say more?

Best flier ever.

Art fags

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Friday, June 6th there are a couple of things you must get down on in Denver.

First, our favorite art fag and crew whore Scot Lefavor is having a three way… show with Vincent Comparetto and Amanda Marie. The show Merge will be held from 7pm-into the am at Andenken (Block Building, 2990 Larimer). While you’re jamming on the ping pong table, sipping your drinks or roasting by the bonfire you’re sweet ears will be loving the sound of DJ Experiment and DJ Idull all night.

Here are a few of the teasers Scot sent me to get you siked, see them all here

Bring your checkbooks, fuckers!

Got the Monday’s? NINJA BINGO!

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

So one of my best friends from Chicago is playing a show tomorrow with his band Plan B.

Come down to Larimer Lounge (2721 Larimer) for Ninja Bingo with the ultimate badass bartender Maggie Moody.

Happy Hour specials last all night long with no cover!
That’s $6 High Life pitchers, $2 wells, and $1.50 PBR’s. Shit to give away all night for BINGO.

Hear them at http://www.myspace.com/planband

Jen and Juice thank you!

Big thanks to 3 Kings Tavern (60 S. Broadway) yesterday for hosting our awards bash. They cut us a big deal to let all of you drink for free yesterday so go back and support them. Really good people there. Big thanks to Jeff and our bartenders Emily, Michelle and Kitty for dealing with me asking for favors all day and serving up drinks to all of our drunk racers, you rule.

If anyone has photos of this weekend please email them to me at Jen[at]milehighmess[dot]com I’d love to see peoples haggard drunk/bum/white hat/Cycle Jerks Special photos!

We also want your stories! Weather it’s three lines or three paragraphs send them! Everyone has a crazy story of what when off… Jamie was forcefully escorted out of Kinkos for xeroxing her boob, Trent punched a guy, Nicole was accused of a purse snatching, Lou streaked, Ric passed out in a keg stand and puked on himself, I mean c’mon, I know you got something!
Email them to me at Jen[at]milehighmess[dot]com
